Choosing where to make a new home is a big decision, and University Heights knows that you have questions. We have provided answers to put your mind at ease and make you feel welcome. Is the property safe?
The property is located in Albemarle County and we participate in the Albemarle County Crime Free Program. We also are the only community to have a resident Neighborhood Watch Program. Please feel free to check with the Albemarle County Police Department for crime statistics in the area. Management addresses lease violations to the fullest extent possible by law. Criminal background screening is done for all applicants.

Who lives at University Heights?
We house a diverse population of graduate students, undergraduates, families and professionals. We lease to anyone who passes our rental criteria and your application is evaluated based on your financial information. Also criminal background screening is done for all applicants.

What Utilities are included?
Water, Sewer and Trash removal are included in rent. Residents are responsible for electricity through Virginia Dominion Power and phone, cable and internet service.

Can I have a pet?
Yes, we are a pet friendly community. There is a $300 non refundable fee per pet, and $35 per month for pet rent. Some breeds are not allowed.

How far away is Darden and the Law School?
U Heights is located one mile from Darden and is only a 15 minute walk from U Heights.

Can I sign a lease long distance since I am out of the Charlottesville area?
You can apply for an apartment online and pay your application fee. We will also need a copy of your driver’s license or photo id. and a current bank, or ATM statement. If you are a student, please provide your student id copy. When your application is approved we will send you the lease contract via email or facsimile and you will need to return it signed to us in order to reserve the apartment. With the signed lease agreement we will also need you to pay your deposit. There are several additional documents that will require your signature when your lease begins. These documents are available here for your review. Please let us know if you should have any questions.

When are rent payments due?
Rent is due on the first of the month with a five-day grace period.
Effective the 6th there is a $35 late fee.
Effective the 16th there is an additional $50 late fee
We accept check or money order. NO CASH!
You should always note your apartment number on your payment.
We do not accept post-dated rent. (Funds are considered to be available when the check is received regardless of the date on the check.)
